Trensition is a strategic intelligence company, with HQ in Ghent Belgium, that builds upon a new, 100% data-driven and quantitative methodology. 

Our in-house developed models and tools are able to provide detailed and tailored trend insights and strategic intelligence in the blink of an eye. This way, Trensition leads the revolution in quantitative trend analysis and challenges the expert-based, qualitative methodologies that have never really proven to be consistent and reliable.

Our History

It was on a cold and wet night in November 2017 that Trensition founders Vincent Defour and Mike Vanderroost wondered if the uncertain future could be made less uncertain via trend analysis based on the application of machine learning on unstructured data.

A moonshot idea was born and both founders were triggered to explore it in depth. They started working on a proof-of-concept during all their spare time over the course of 2018. The combination of a data scientist and a strategy & innovation expert proved to be a golden match. Intensive academic-level research was carried out and by the end of 2018, a proof-of-concept was realized of a unique 100% data-driven and quantitative methodology for trend analysis. During the first semester of 2019, the founders subjected their innovative methodology to thorough testing, benchmarking and backtesting. Their results showed significant improvements compared to traditional, qualitative trend research methodologies. They even managed to expose some major inconsistencies in the past analysis of renomated competitors in the field. Fueled by confidence, Vincent and Mike decided to commercialize their methodology. Shortly thereafter, at the beginning of the second semester of 2019, a first business contract was closed with a large financial corporate organization.

Trensition was officially born and a third founder was attracted. Mathias Colpaert, an IT engineer with excellent DevOps & full stack development skills, joined the Trensition team. He helped scaling the methodology and converting it into a cloud solution. This was the jumpstart of what is now a fast-growing deep-tech start-up, Trensition.
